Marty: Forever Concerned
What a good boy! Born 1990, died 2005 of cancer. He was a good cat.
EVERYBODY loved Marty, and if he didn't love everybody back, he at least
got along with them. I never worried about his reaction to another cat or
person. Marty was a "concerned cat," with a perpetually distantly-worried
look on his face. When my friend Ben and I watched the news footage of
the 9/11 attacks, we were in tears; he curled around me on the sofa and
purred, just wanting to comfort someone he knew was in pain. He was protective,
too -- more than a few repairmen wouldn't enter my apartment because he'd
growl at them from his perch on the couch. But to those he knew were okay,
he was nothing but amiable; even people who despised cats loved this huge
grilled-sirloin-colored tabby.

Shoda never got to the top of that cat tree. Ever.

Marty got along with absolutely anybody, even
Mystic.

Marty liked the cat tree, claiming it for his own.

He could hide ANYWHERE.

I so miss that couch. He loved it too.
|

That was his favorite place to sleep.

In Idaho, he spent most of his time sleeping.

What a rough life.

Isn't he a big beautiful boy?

What a rough life, Part Deux. The plaid fabric is a nightgown Mom sent that doesn't quite fit. It's just as well. The cats won't let me near it.
