Ben next to a diagram of an elephant skeleton.

And more elephants.

An Elephant. They had a HUGE enclosure!

Me, next to the elephants.

Ben in one of those silly wooden cutout things. He makes a bad tortoise!

The tortoises had a brand-new enclosure, much nicer than the old, rat-infested one.

The panda. This is all it did the whole time I watched it. What a rough life.

A possum. This shot was completely accidental -- as I stood watching the panda, I saw a scurrying
movement to my left among the flowers planted in the rock wall of the panda enclosure. There, a foot from my
nose, was a wild possum baby! Lucky the camera was still on, so I just grabbed a shot. (Naturally, some
observers thought it was a rat!)

A peacock in the petting zoo.

A peacock NOT in the petting zoo. It might have been albino, except its eyes weren't red.

We have no idea what this animal was, some kind of snapping turtle, but that tongue was mesmerizing. It
flapped and wiggled it around like a worm!

You have never beheld such hams in your life. PT Barnum could have taken a hint on how to work crowds
from the otter exhibit.

Some sort of Asian deer, resting.

An honest-to-God bongo, an African animal. "That's nice, Bacchus."

A baby drill monkey. They looked a bit like mandrills, but their bottoms were just pink, not flaming
red.

Gorilla enclosure. The glass observation deck can be barely seen to the left.

The orangutan exhibit. Looks palatial!

Some giraffes. There were several in the enclosure.
